I'm trying to find a better looking and more efficient solution to the large & ugly pigtail power connectors I currently use for my projects.
I've got many of these on display on a couple of shelves - each with their own power source - so want to replace the ugly pigtails with something minimal / cleaner looking and consolidate their power sources. Wanted to post and see what others in this situation use.
The connector shrouds make connecting easy, identify pin 1, give a labelling surface, make insertion easier, and increase retention of stock dupont ribbons. There are other connectors that you can splice & solder, but the fab time is excessive and requires higher fab skills (soldering vs screws) or specialized tooling (racheting crimpers and dies). Cleanest approach is PCB with soldered connectors, but that is risky/expensive (multiple iterations are usually needed, especially for a first effort) for low volume production or single unit fab.
