Profinet to connect with Arduino

Hello everyone,
I am working in a project to identify faulty cable among the 40 cables that have been placed in a cable rail.
I want to connect an Arduino to a 40-pin connector, however the wire needs to be short because I want to make a compact size project.
So, can I connect them using Profinet?

Does anyone know if it's possible or how to go about doing it?
Thank you

Profinet is about networking. How do you see that it fits your application?

Why did you start a new topic? Wouldn't it have been better to continue in Detection of faulty cable in cable rails? You should at least have given a link to that topic so you don't get duplication of answers.

Your topic has been moved to a more suitable location on the forum. Installation and Troubleshooting is not for advice on (nor for problems with) your project  See About the Installation & Troubleshooting category.

As I just googled, Profinet is software net standart. What it has to do with a problem of testing 40-pin cable connector?

Do some search for "Arduino + cable tester". There are lots of such projects done in this forum.

OP already has another topic about that (see my earlier reply). I'm waiting for a reply to hear why a new topic was started. Based on that it can be decided to report it as a crosspost or not.

Or merge the threads?

No, its a same topic but this is first part of project and then we will look upon the other part.
sorry for inconvenience

True, indeed. However, I am referring to Profinet cable, therefore is there any chance of using it. that is my query.

Answer that ! How does it make your project a compact size.

How does the type of cable have an influence on its length?

If it's 40 wires, I would use 40 pin IDC headers and flatcable. If it has to be more rugged, I would use a 50 pin subD connector.
