program not sending to my ATmega328P-PU

I am trying to make my like blink using andruino ide file to send to my ATmega328P-PU circuit, but
I get this message instead.

Im using a USB to TTL component to link the device.
please let me know what I am doing wrong.

Hope to heir from you.

This is a drawing what i made.

sirmax101’s drawing (both attached images are identical):

Problems:

  • Crystal is connected between “GRD” and PB6. It should be connected between PB6 and PB7.
  • Crystal load capacitors are connected to “VC”. They should be connected to ground.
  • Only one of the “GRD” pins is grounded.
  • AVCC is not powered.
  • 0.1 uF decoupling capacitors are missing from both power lines.
  • Pull-up resistor is missing from the reset line.

This is how your circuit should be:

I set it up but still getting this message.

This is my new drawing of board.

Did you ever connect an ISP programmer to the ATmega328P and successfully do a Tools > Burn Bootloader?

I don't have ISP programmer. But I just purchase one one amazon it will be here on Thursday.
Until then Ill let you know if It works or not. Thanks for all the help.

If you have a spare Arduino board, you can turn it into an "Arduino as ISP":

If you're buying an ISP programmer, I highly recommend the 6 pin USBasp. This is the best of all the AVR ISP programmers by far. You can get them super cheap on eBay if you don't mind waiting for China shipping.

The 10 pin version is OK as long as you get the 10 to 6 pin adapter with it, but then it's more bulky than the 6 pin model and all the Arduino boards use the 6 pin ICSP header so the 10 pin cable is not terribly useful.

I got the USBasp USB ISP 10 Pin USB Programmer at amazon, it strap is a 10 pins connector, that connect to it 6 pins.

That will work fine.
