programmed atmega chip used on other board?

Hello,

i am new to arduino, i was going to do a project using atmega chip but i came across arduino boards, i want to ask some questions.

1: can i experiment on the arduino board and burn the atmega chip with .hex file and use it with other circuit component that i am building provided i have oscillator and capacitors necessary for the atmega chip ?

2: can i burn other atmega chips using the arduino board ?

any kind of good advice will be very much appreciated, thanks in advance

1: Yes, you can.

2: You can burn other ATMEGA168 or ATMEGA8 chips using the Arduino board but without the bootloader, you'll have to do it via ICSP using the header on the Arduino and a separate ICSP programmer.
