programming AtTiny85: function 10µF capacitor between RST and GND

Hi!

I have an AtTiny85 that I want to program with my Arduino UNO R3. I need to place a 10µF elektrolytic capacitor between RST and GND for that.
But I only have 2 elektrolytic capacitors of 100µF, so I'll be able to combine these to a 50µF capacitor.

What is the function of this capacitor and will a 50µF one damage my UNO/attiny?

Thanks!
Bram

The function is to disable the automatic reset upon serial connection.

If you connect the capacitor(s) correctly (mind + and - for electrolytics!) it surely won't harm anything. The worst that can happen is that it just won't work for the intended purpose. But I think it should.

Just connect 1 100uF. It’s indeed to prevent the reset so a higher value doesn’t hurt.

It did work, thanks for the answer!!
+karma for both
