Ι trying to upload a sketch to an attiny85 using the sparkfun tiny programmer pgm-11801. From the Arduino IDE 2.0 and earlier I get the message: "avrdude: initialization failed, rc=-1
Double check connections and try again, or use -F to override this check."
I should add that I put the attiny85 on the programmer.
Have you installed the drivers for that programmer ? Followed the sparkfun “ getting started “
Might not be applicable to you , but with the UNO based programmer I had to upload the bootloader first , presumably to get the fuses for clock speed etc set .
