If your "process" is correct you can prevent most problems. For example, when building a circuit, I make one connection then check continuity , then highlight that connection in yellow on the schematic. There are other "mefhods" , like NEVER turn OFF the power to an arduino until you have VERIFIED that there is NO voltage on ANY GPIO pins (analog OR digital). There are software equivilents of such processes. However, I agree that one part of our psyche attempts to "compensate" for errors made by a different part of the psyche by covering up mistakes to avoid embarassment and humliation. I am constantly castgated by other members for deliberately pointing out every mistake. My defense is :
"If you DON'T want go know what yiu did wrong, then don't post on the forum because our job is to tell you what you did wrong.
In a different thread I stated that I thought a newbie shiuld be told if a particular mistake is "obvious" and why. Usually they don't know .
