Programming LED Light strip using fastLED

I have been trying for weeks to understand what exactly i am doing wrong. I am trying to combine two different light effects into one program. for instance i want to to twinkle random colors for say 5 min and then want to to color chase and then repeat.... I just cannot figure it out i can put both effects into the program but then when i upload either it will upload but only run one effect or it wont upload and throw an error.. any help would be great thank you in advance. i have attached to different effects code for reference i am sure it is something simple but i just cant figure it out..

Let me try this again this is the first time i have ever posted to this so for that i am sorry... here are the two codes that i am trying to combine into 1 sketch and upload and get to play together.. i guess i just don't understand where i need to place the next code in order to get it to work. again sorry for any confusion i am a rookie...

What "next code"? Do you understand what each part of each program does?
