Perhaps the problem is the USB comms driver for your Arduino(s).
Do you know if your Arduino uses FTDI or CH340 serial communication driver?
A note:
I use a piece of equipment that uses a USB driver. I installed the driver for this equipment under "admin" privileges (sounds permanent... but). However; EVERY time Windows has an update (almost weekly), I must re-install my USB driver.
