I'm starting off simple. relay output card and novakon hmi attached to rs485, controlling a pump and solenoids to water my plants.

I'm going to connect OPTA between electromech I/O in the cab of trains and onboard digital radios to communicate such buttons-and-lights as are necessary to the dispatch center in real time.
True story; what could possibly go wrong??
