I have an old laptop screen I've been looking into repurposing. I've seen tutorials on turning an old laptop screen into a monitor using a controller board, but I would like to turn it into a cheap smart TV. Is it as simple as attaching the screen, controller board, speakers, and a streaming device like a roku? The controller board has an hdmi port for the video input and connects to the laptop monitor using a it's own connection. I guess my question is in my mind this doesn't seem that hard to do but I don't know if this is everything I need or if it will even work? Can I just attach a roku to a repurposed laptop screen acting as a monitor to make it a "smart TV?"
Give it a try - sounds cool! Glue an Arduino on the side, so you can post about it here.
Care to share details of the controller board?
I think @ChrisTenone was trying to say that this project does not seem to be relevant to this Forum. Arduino's are not capable of video processing.
...R
PS. I have been making enquiries about glue here

It won't work.
Remember that an Arduino Uno has the same sort of processing power as a home computer had in the 1980s and you didn't see them streaming video.
