Proposal "The hardware olympic games"

The hardware olympic games

OK, maybe not quite as dramatic as that, but I got thinking, we have the 555 games, make something using the 555 chip that nobody's done before or something new / different etc....

How about a Group of Challenges for all IC's and MCs with different categories eg you'd not have a 8bit or even 32bit microcontroller go against a bunch of logic chips, it would be unfair so it would allow professionals and amateurs alike to compete.

Transistor/ICS (eg, 4000 series, 74000 series etc etc, PNP,NPN, Mosfets whatever you want...)

  1. You have 50ma of current, what can you build?
  2. You have 20ma of current.... what can you build?
  3. Make the most efficient LED driver, (how bright vs power consumption)
    etc

MCs

  1. Whatever..... fastest, most efficient, does the most in smallest size. eg, attiny85 / Arduino.

Maybe a Challenge a month have a scoreboard, see who can do what... the

Electronic Hardware Games! (The EHG?)

I rather think that what you propose is done here every day by a lot of earnest and hard working Ladies and Gentlemen of all ages abilities and talent.
I should think more like congratulations should be in order for the successes, Certainly. The failures are lessons that soon turn to successes.

Doc

Exactly... so why not earn recognition for your efforts and then if someone decides to compete against you, it becomes interesting...

So here I am wanting to give credit and acknowledge to exactly those people you speak of and have some fun doing so, i'm not sure if you're for or against the idea? (you're against recognition of skills?)

I would much rather see a "Project of the Month" (or week) spotlighting some deserving Arduinite's efforts, either hardware or software.
