prototype shield assembly (n00by q)

i got my grubby little paws on a prototype shield kit, and all is well, except i don't understand how to assembly it to just fit on top of the arduino - the sockets that make sense (pardon the lack of proper vocab) are too short, and don't engage with the ones on the arduino. am i missing something?

sigh, nevermind, i figured it out. being a n00b is a pain.

for posterity's sake, a few tidbits after i got it working.

to get the roving networks rn41 module to work with your arduino:

  • it defaults to 115200 baud. if you want to change that, you'll need to connect to it (remote configurations are only accepted for 60 seconds after power up. wire in pin 19 and 21 leds to see when the mode is active (it'll flash 2x/sec when it will allow remote config)

  • wire the module's rx pin to the arduino tx pin, and vice versa.

both of these may be obvious to y'all, but it took me a while.

Hmmm. What I think of as a prototype shield (SparkFun ProtoShield Kit - DEV-13820 - SparkFun Electronics) has no relationship with baud rate.

Which shield are you referring to?

that's what i get for posting three different times. i was assembling a proto shield to use with an rn41 dip module. one problem flowed into the next in my mind, and i forgot to separate the two when posting
