proximity lighting

I have a project in mind and I'm not sure what to use. The goal is to turn on a 6 foot light whip once I am with 300 feet of it. The purpose is to locate my truck as I kayak back to shore at night. I have some HC-05 bluetooth modules with 30 feet range. My knowledge base on bluetooth and RF communication is nonexistant. I know its as simple as triggering a MOSFET or relay from a Distance.

these are my problems:

  1. determining what wireless modules to use
  2. pairing the 2 devices so they only interact with each other
  3. making them work together arduino Mega to arduino Nano

I'd recommend to use a JDY-40 modules. They can communicate on up to 350 feet. And you don't even need an arduino. Pair of them can work as a remote switch.

Awesome, I will give it try. Thank you
