PT2262/PT2272 as wireless parallell interface

Hello people,

Quite new to Arduino.cc, but I love the possibilities of the Arduino, and has tons of ideas what to do with it, and well... havent DONE anything yet, but it'll come I guess...

One thing I am looking into is controlling my home with the arduino. What has taken my time the last couple of nights is how to control the relays over longer distances, and have thought of the dallas semi 2405 and the one-wire system running in the walls, but that would be complicated, and I already have my walls filled with cables so... I thought of the XBee way to go, but that would be EXPENSIVE! But then I opened up one of those cheap remote on/off switches you can buy which mainly consists of a PT2262 sender talking to a couple of 2272 senders, with DIP-switches for choosing "channel" and "reciever nr". These circuits are really easy to hack into with the Arduino and start controlling stuff wirelessly...

BUT these chips seem to be so much more than just on/off by remote... These are actually Wireless parallell interfaces, with "everything" built in. With a little logic these could be made to send loads of info and commands all over the house very very cheap... Has anyone else experimented with these? I didnt find to much info while searching the site.

So I'm talking to the company making the IC's to see if I can buy a couple of chips to experiment with... (didnt find any european distributors or retailers)

Short vid showing the "binary" function of the pt2262/pt2272

simple vid showing that the arduino can interface with the 2262...

I also hope that I can help someone as much as you guys have already helped me in my experiments with the Arduino!
