Pulse Sensor Options

I’m making a device to stimulate leg muscles between heart beats (by squeezing them). Are there better quality and more reliable heart pulse sensors available for Arduino Mega 2560 or ones less prone to produce errors? Or maybe commercial monitors that can provide a pulse signal for the Arduino.
I have an inexpensive finger oximeter that shows pulse and oxygen levels and I surmise that there should be options available.

"Better", "more reliable" and "less prone" than what?

Link please.

Good question and thanks for replying to a new user.
I have a pulse sensor which came with my Arduino from my supplier. Using the sketch from PulseSensorPlayground - PulseSensor_BPM, it will show a pulse simulation on the plotter but will not trigger the onboard LED (13) with each pulse.
Additionally, I have ordered a MAX30102 Pulse and O2 board to try but the reports I have read show some difficulty in getting continual and reliable readings.

The sketch allows for a threshold to be set to prevent background noise triggering, but this seems to have no effect on triggering the LED. The LED appears to blink about every 4th beat.
