pump to add laundry soap

has anyone used one of these pumps

Ebay Pump

I tried using a pump from a Keurig coffee maker while it worked when the pump was not on the liquid soap still dripped out.
I was wondering if the peristaltic pump would do the same

Peristaltic pumps do not leak.

If however you have a large outlet tube pointing down, air bubbles may rise from the outlet and displace the residual fluid.

Periostalic pumps are used In commercial kitchen dishwashers.

For exactly that reason!

Huge advantage of a peristaltic pump is that they generally work just as well in reverse.

So instead of just stopping, you could reverse direction for the time needed to pull back product to reduce any overflow. Normally you might not want to risk contamination, but if your just dispensing laundry soap that’s really not a concern.

Thanks, guys
my only concern was with the pump I had that gravity would slowly force the soap through the pump when its off. It sounds like with a peristaltic pump that will not happen.
Also thanks for the suggestion on reversing the pump although Im not sure how I would do that

It certainly will not if it is correctly constructed.

Presuming it is a DC motor - and it clearly is

you reverse the connections.

(Which will be another discussion in itself!)

Thanks, Paul_B

That's obvious. The question is how to reverse the polarity with the arduino the only way I can think of is two pins to control 2 relays to reverse the voltage. One relay for forward than the second for reverse
