Push Buttons

Hey there!

I need some help here, I have a push button right here that I want to modify it . When I press it.. it goes down but when I press it again It goes up. Here the Image here http://hacktronics.co.in/home/347-6-pin-push-button-on-off-switches.html Is there any buttons that allows me to when pressing it, it does go down it goes up like these Mini Push Button Switch 2-PIN Qty. 4

Thanks

Do you mean that it makes contact when pushed and releases contact when button is released?
These switches are called momentary switches. The first switch in you post is a latching switch. Maybe this will help you in your search.

Ok the first url that is in the post is the one I have on my board, but I want to modify it to where I don't want it to be push down and it stays down I want it to be like how the second url that I posted. someone told me to take the switch apart and remove whats holding the button to make it to where you press it and then it releases.

If no one gets what I am saying please shot me..Thank you.

Modifying the mechanics of a particular switch is somewhat out of the purview of these forums. Especially since a vast majority of PCB mount buttons are not designed to be dismantled. I would maybe search Digikey/mouser/newark for a momentary version of the switch, and then replace it on your board.

Good luck!

I will try that.

Thanks

But is it the type of button that if I push down and i let go it wont stay down...it will go back up like the other switch that I posted?.

Yes, that is a momentary pushbutton. It opens again when you let go.

I would not say that modifying a push-on push-off switch is out of the purview of this forum. I would rather say that it is very difficult to do so without destroying or rendering the switch unreliable, and so makes much more sense to just replace it.

I want to replace it, I just didn't know if there were buttons like push button instead of push down it stays down push down and goes up. I am also want to build my own PCB cause the one I have here the holes are messed up.

Edit: I just saw the image its the kind of button I am looking for but the heading on the button is different then what I have on this PCB.

You have 2 options, buy a momentary push button or have a go at your existing button with a screw driver and a craft knife, if you can get inside it, it's normally only a plastic tab that holds back the spring, I've modified latching switches before (usually by accidental ultra violence or seeing how it worked and not putting it back together right)

I tried taken it apart, no luck so Im try to get this switch and do some mod on it just trim the top piece to fit the rest of the switch.

If your going to buy a new bit anyway try hitting the old switch square on the head with a hammer (not so hard that you crack the pcb though), I've converted a few latching switches to momentary by just dropping stuff.

I'm have to buy whole new PCB anyway so this one I don't care to much about. I just want to know if anyone knows where I could get a switch that I don't need to press down and it stays down. I just want one that when I press it...It doesn't stay down it release like these push button switchs that comes with the kit on here.

Momentary pushbuttons are easier to find than latching pushbuttons. Where are you and what does this need to fit? Does it really need to look like that latching pushbutton, or will these work?

Search DPDT, (double pole double throw) momentary switch they'll be lots.

This is what I am talking about right here http://www.evelta.com/push-switch-non-locking

Edit: It has to be that same shape and all.

Inside the latching switch there's a wire hook that rides on a small plastic plate with a channel that catches the wire hook and releases it to create the latching action. If you opened up the switch (carefully, as to not damage the tabs that hold it together), removed the wire hook, and put it back together, I'd think it would act like a momentary switch. Haven't tried it though. Let me know if it works.

I'll give it a try and let you all know.

Edit: I've tried it and its doesn't work. I'm just going to buy a new switch hopefully my local hardware has something like this.
