Hi. I am currently working on a project where i have a few soil sensors which is connected to a ESP32 Devkit (Slaves). These ESP32 will then wirelessly transmit the data collect to another ESP32 controller (Master). Right now i want to push all these data over to the cloud by connecting the Master to a 4G modem. After researching, i came across a few people using the SIM7600. May i know what do yall recommend? and if possible do yall have any reference code i can refer to for my project.
I have used myDevices/cayeene as a desktop - it is free up to some limit of devices
I used a Quectel EC21 modem to uplink/downling data using MQTT but I assume any modern modem should work
I dont think this is applicable for my project because this project will be taken place at a site. the site will only have the sensors, the boards and the modem. A battery will be used to power up the boards and modem hence there will not be any laptop involved in the project on site.
We just want to find a way to use a modem or some kind to push the data to our webdev team.
thanks for the reply nonetheless
not sure where mention of a laptop appeared from
the Quectel EC21 is attached to a PIC24 microcontroller which is controlling industrial equipment - at regular times it uplinks data to the cayenne desktop in the cloud either using LoraWAN or the EC21 modem - on power fail a battery enables transmission of an alert
if your system is powered using a battery make a note that a modem typically draws 2amp during transmission
