Put all your I/O in one place

If you have nothing to do, maybe this is an idea for you to make up.
Takes no pins from the middle area on the breadboard.
Has its own 60 pin header for circuit connection.

Goes great with my new 1284Weeney from Crossroads.

Great minds think alike: I'm doing basically that on a long breadboard: switches and leds, 1307RTC with coin cell. Yours, not being breadboard, is much nicer though.

I am adding:

  • 1284Weeny
  • Bubble-Licious
  • 8 bit word detection (for triggering a scope etc.)
  • DC to DC converter.

I have 240R resistors on the I/O pins on the Weeny in case someone shorts a pin to +5V or 0V. :sweat_smile:

While the 1307 appears to have a bad reputation (I have yet to try mine out), I tend to think that a RTC - perhaps a DS3231 - should be one of the first and most important additions to any project board design such as an Arduino. True, it may not be so necessary on something such as the Pi which is expected to be permanently on the Internet, but for all sorts of projects such as data logging, home control, access control and such, it is essential.

Maybe should of used a small USB 5 volt power supply instead of the DC to DC converter, to late now.

Wow, you are quick! I go to work, play 9 holes of golf with a company outing, come home and you have the board made already! I'm working 2 paid designs, have 2 or 3 more in the wings. Would be a bit before I could put this together in Eagle.

Made an “All In One Front Panel” to accompany the “All In One I/O”
Complete with:

  • LEDs
  • Switches
  • Keypad
  • DB-09
  • POT
  • 4X20 RGB LCD

Use the two units as you would a patch panel.
