PWM works. You can use the regular Arduino functions.
I've successfully used it on the V003 myself. Make sure to not only install the latest release (v1.0.4) but also to copy all code of the most recent master branch.
Note that release 1.0.4 is out for some time now and WCH doesn't provide frequent new releases. It's all depending on the spare time of one employee.
It's also helpful to look at the various PR's that have been contributed and when you have an issue, first check on Github if it's a known issue that perhaps already has been fixed. Good luck!
