pwm instead of pot

Hi,
is it possible to replace a potentiometre controlling the sound volume of a device by pwm ?

a transistor is what you're looking for.

what's the source of the sound you want to control?

it's actually a fm receiver kit I just got it has two potentiometers one fotr tuning and one for volume I was thinking on mabye being able to control it from arduino.

have you looked into digital pots?...

if so you should try the digital potentiometers as idover proposed.

i believe that the volume control can be a pot, either analog or digital... but i'm pretty sure the tuner isn't as simple... though, i've never built a radio myself, only read about it online...

thanks,
isaac

If you could find something that uses this it only takes two switches to do tuning.

If it's capacitor tuned you'd have to use a stepper.

Or if it's a TDA7000 you can set it up to be tuned with a pot.
