It is great news for Java fan, plus good to have one more competitor for ARM.

Qualcomm: AR9331 the heart of Yun Oracle: Java Imagination: Owner of MIPS OpenWRT: The OS of Yun

Although blueprints are still being drawn-up, for now it’s expected that the initial port will be Java SE Embedded 8 for 32-bit MIPS R2 embedded SoCs. This is tentatively slated for release in 2015

AR9331 at Yun is 32-bit MIPS R2 embedded SoCs.

Souns good because the only alternative now is jamvm; although its a fine 1.5 JVM (which is officially long dead), it has to run with 'classpath', the GNU version of the core classes and they are only up to version 1.4 and has lots of bugs. The only plus side is that it runs 'BeanShell'; it makes the entire Yun much more accessible through Java. I can hardly wait until an 'official' Oracle Java implementation for the MIPS processor sees the light ;-) Thanks for the information.

kind regards,
