Question about an existing project by Josef Holmner

If you look at Josef Holmner's hand controlled drone project: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXOxavyZ5C8&t=123s , he used arduino to control both the transmitter and the drone. I want to build his project, can I just use a normal flight controller instead of arduino for the drone? I was thinking that the signal transmitted is something that can be read by a normal flight controller since it got converted.

Define normal.

Such as this: https://www.flipkart.com/robodo-afroflight-naze32-rev6-flight-controller-board-multicopterr-drone-qav250/p/itmezbq2ehegvzjd

by normal I mean a ready made one, it doesn’t require any programming or soldering other than esc, battery, rx etc.

If you have an Arduino at both ends there is no need to stick to a standard. I doubt that the project with the Arduinos will use the same codes as the controller you linked. But check with the author of the Arduino Project.

No it doesn’t follow, the radio signal can carry anything basically it is just bit patterns. It is only when those bit patterns get to the receiver does it get converted into the action required.
