Question about Arduino Mega 2560

Hi. I´ve ran into a problem. I bought mega 2560 with ramps 1.4 and cnc kit. Everything worked , but then my motor stopped rotating and just move on step to one side and then to another. So I turned off power supply and tried to connect arduino to my computer and I can´t find arduino in "tools" > "Port".

So my question is .

Do i need to buy whole new board or can I just buy some chip and replace the old one?

Looks like it.

How good are you at soldering surface mount components?

You should try to find the trouble source, or you risk to kill the next Arduino for the same reason.

Unless you have the skills and tools for reworking surface mount circuits you will need to buy a new one.

But first you need to figure out what may have killed the original.

I have merged your cross-posts @scorpio21.

Cross-posting is against the Arduino forum rules. The reason is that duplicate posts can waste the time of the people trying to help. Someone might spend a lot of time investigating and writing a detailed answer on one topic, without knowing that someone else already did the same in the other topic.

Repeated cross-posting can result in a suspension from the forum.

In the future, please only create one topic for each distinct subject matter. This is basic forum etiquette, as explained in the "How to get the best out of this forum" guide. It contains a lot of other useful information. Please read it.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

I have friend that went to college and know how to solder stuff ,however he can't tell me what blown. So if you can help me find out what is broken je Can help me fix that .

I understand

Can Bad driver kill whole Board?

If it were installed backwards and powered It could, but I am not sure.

Most easily by missing flyback (freewheel) diodes. This does not apply to bipolar stepper motor drivers.

Was the board already assembled or did you build it up yourself?

Because if it's not a driver then i don't know because everything else was new

There is a world of difference between him knowing how to solder and knowing how solder surface mount components. The chip that needs to be replaced is the USB to Serial converter chip. It might not be all that is wrong but if it is not working then the Arduino will not show up as a USB serial device when you plug it in.

So. After few days I decided to learn electronics from scratch and understand for 100% how electronics work and what could happen. However I ordered CH340G chips , because I believe that my problem Can be solved by changing a chip .

You should have mentioned that it was not a real Arduino Mega, but a clone. Those chips are easier to solder than the fine pin spacing used on a read Mega.
