Question about PowerSwitch Tail II

I want to make sure that i'm about to use the PowerSwitch Tail II properly with the arduino Uno.

I have this powerswitch tail Powerswitch tail 2 : ID 268 : $25.95 : Adafruit Industries, Unique & fun DIY electronics and kits

It has three pins: +in, -in and ground. I plan to hook up +in to a digital pin on the arduino and -in to the arduino ground. And leave ground empty?

On adafruit it states that this version of the powerswitch tail II is opti-isolated so hooking it directly to the arduino uno without a transistor or any kind of protection should be safe and provide enough power to trigger the relay in the powerswitch, right?

Thanks!

According to the info on the adafruit page you linked to, that is correct. Looks like it is a standard SSR in a box with a power plug and socket attached. I'm guessing that the ground connection is just a convenience in case you want to connect Arduino ground to mains ground, since I can't see any other reason for it.

[EDIT: just looked at the data sheet and it appears to use a mechanical relay driven from an opto triac, rather than an SSR.]
