Question about programming gadgets

So, this device, for example, on ebay

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-1pc-USB-ISP-Programmer-For-ATMEL-AVR-ATMega-ATTiny-51-Development-Board-/400596661681?pt=AU_B_I_Electrical_Test_Equipment&hash=item5d456bf5b1

If you scroll down the page, there is a long list of atmel devices, which seems to include everything except atmega328 .

Is there any obvious reason why such a device would be good for all the other devices, but not the atmega328 ? Is there some special aspect of the atmega328 that would cause it not to work with this device ?

No. It will work fine.

Watch out though: It has a ten pin cable so you won't be able to connect it directly to an Arduino.

You can get adapters ... but I prefer the six-pin programmers myself.
