Question on lady ada's ethernet shield..

Hello!

I just assembled lady ada's ethernet shield.. it works fine! Now I would love to use it with MAX7221 to control a LED matrix...
Which pins are used to control the wiznet? Which ones may I use to control the rest of my project?

Thanks for any help!

Ethernet shield gives you documentation on the shield and pins used.

It appears that you pretty much get to decide, but if your using their examples then they have the pins listed for you

Everything other than the ones your using to connect to the ethernet module you've selected should be free to do whatever you want with.

Hope this helps!

Matthias

Thanks Matthias.. but I am using the Wiznet Ethernet adapter.. and the page is about the XPort.. :frowning:

Most likely pins 10 thru 13 inclusive are used.

Thanks Phil.. will try that later when I get home
I think it's not documented inside the ethernet library..

Pins 11, 12 and 13 are the standard SPI pins. Pin 10 is often used as a "chip enable" for an SPI device--although I don't know if this is the case with the shield.
