Hello, I own an UNO R3 but I am considering to buy a Mega 256.
In terms of software, do all the software/driver for the UNO R3 work on the Mega 256 straight out of the box without any modifications?
In terms of hardware, are all the shields that are compatible with the UNO R3 fully compatible with the Mega 256?
Has anybody used a Grove Mega Shield? It is on sale in a local store. I wonder if it is a good idea to buy it as well.

You probably mean Mega2560. UNO R3 and Mega R3 they are very similar. Driver is not a problem. However, SW if you mean your APP it is hard to say if without modification will run on Mega. Probably not (if it is not like a blink example). They have little different resources but they are very close from the view of IDE. No reason for concern. Go to Mega from UNO is much easier than reverse, I think. About shields: no all shields are compatible. Here you have to be careful little bit. Check the ports on shield carefully.
