Quick LED Resistor question

Hi all,

Hopefully a quick question, I have this LED here:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1xSuper-Bright-3Watt-LED-Lamp-with-Aluminium-Heatsink-BLUE-RED-AMBER-WHITE-GREEN-/271254082666?hash=item3f2800d46a:g:HQ8AAOxyFIFSAiqp

The relevant specs from the ad are:

Input: 2.5V - 3V
Colours: BLUE, RED, AMBER, GREEN, WHITE
Brightness: 70-80 Lemuns
Weight: 4g

I have the white one.

The power source I'll be running off is a 14.8 LIPO (voltage can get a bit higher than that when charged).

Can someone confirm what resistor I need, in particular the wattage needed to run this LED properly?

Is a resistor the best way to go about powering this?

No resistor, you need a constant current supply for something this big.

suspected that might be the case, thanks very much for the quick reply.

Cheers,
Matt
