For the last few months, when I click on the quote button, the quote appears twice in my reply.
I then have to highlight and delete the second one and sometimes this erases part of my reply, a real PIA.
Any fix for this..?

That sounds like an OS issue !

Bluejets,
The forum software is clunky and has all sorts of irritating problems. There's supposed to be a replacement soon, although this could be a strange new meaning of 'soon' you were not previously aware of.
Sorry, I don't know how to fix your problem, but I'm not the least bit surprised you have a problem.

I'll take it that it is a web site problem then...no use ballscrewbob linking to a search on Google with thousands of possible routes to look through.
In case you missed it the problem is as in this answer.
I often have the opposite problem, where I click the "Quote" link and get nothing. I have to click it multiple times before I get a quote. By then, I have usually become infuriated and clicked the thing 20 times so then I have to clean 14 copies of the quote out of my reply.
After seeing this topic, I realized that I haven't had that issue for a little while. I wonder if the two problems are related?
@Per
I don't think they are related as the first seems to be OS related and the yours appears to be TOKEN related.
First one is often a mistyped key sequence as the cause that locks in the quote pattern.
Yours almost certainly sounds like SMF vs AUTH0.
Bob.

LOL. I'm certain they are both related to the spurving bearing alignment in the turbo encabulator.
I just had the good old unresponsive "Quote" link problem, so I guess I spoke too soon about it having been absent lately.
I agree that "not able to quote" relates to authentication. As with pert, it hasn't happened for a while; when it happens, I usually go back in the browser, next forward and I can quote again.
Long ago I reported another quote issue (can't find it back) about it as well; that was a specific thread where it happened; quoting worked as expected in other threads.
Yours was a quite unique quote error that IIRC was to do with some copy pasted special characters.
Never did get that one sorted out although I think you still have the issue open on github.
Still open
But now I can't test newer versions of browsers as the topic is older than 120 days
Still getting the double quote window in my reply.
If I delete the second quote and then add some reply, it always appears in italics.
So I highlight that and switch of the italic.
So good so far, but then post the whole shee-bang and it comes up minus my reply.
That is crap if what you typed disappears.
If you need a workaround:
If you quote and get a double quote, copy the quote to a text editor and compose your reply in the text editor. Next refresh the page in the browser when you're ready to post, copy and paste your reply from the text editor to the quick reply window and post the reply.
I often use a text editor to compose replies if they are quite extensive.
link me to it an I will open it again for you.
Did you search google for your particular type of issue ?
