R307 Fingerprint scanner module. 'scanner not recognised'

I've recently purchased the R307 fingerprint scanner for Arduino.

I have previously been using the scanner on an Arduino Duemilanove and it has been working fine. With the connections as following
red 5V
black GND
yellow digital pin 2
white digital pin 3

This has worked on my previous set up. However I have had to change board to Arduino UNO, and I'm having difficulty.

I have red and black connected to power and ground as usual.
I have then tried Yellow on pin 2 and white on pin 3 (no luck)
and then I have tried Green on pin 2 and White on pin 3 (still no luck)

Do you have any idea as to why it may not be being recognised?

Thanks in advance.

You obviously didn't bother to find out what the Duemilanove's pins 2 and 3 are !

.

Are they not Software Serial ?

rhysgriffith:
Are they not Software Serial ?

Only if you decide that they are.

yep, they are dedicated software serial. However still not recognised from my UNO. any ideas ?

Post code, post a schematic.

Here is the code. This is the simple enrollment code that was provided by the Adafruit Fingerprint Library. Hardware connections are connected as stated in the code.

#include <Adafruit_Fingerprint.h>

// On Leonardo/Micro or others with hardware serial, use those! #0 is green wire, #1 is white
// uncomment this line:
// #define mySerial Serial1

// For UNO and others without hardware serial, we must use software serial...
// pin #2 is IN from sensor (GREEN wire)
// pin #3 is OUT from arduino  (WHITE wire)
// comment these two lines if using hardware serial

SoftwareSerial mySerial(3, 4); I thought you wrote " 2 & 3" ?

Hello Again, ive tried 2&3 and 3&4. no luck with either. :frowning:
