I already had the user manual of the r307s:
but when i connect the vcc to either 3.3 or external 5v and gnd, it just blinks once and then off. it should be continous light right? how can i trouble shoot this? thank you guys

It sounds like a power issue! The R307S should stay lit if it's receiving a stable voltage. First, double-check your wiring to ensure VCC and GND are properly connected. If you're using a 3.3V source, try switching to a stable 5V supply and see if that helps. You can also measure the voltage at the module to confirm it's getting the right power. If you're powering it through a microcontroller, make sure it can handle the current draw. If the light still won’t stay on, do you notice any heating or unusual behavior? That might give more clues!
Yeah, I tried even the constant 5v pin from my HW131 module to power my r307s. and yes, it's still the same. I even tried the logic level shifter, and it still blinks only once and then never again. I'm pretty sure that the manual I got is the exact r307s that i have right now. But yeah, I'm not quite sure how to make this thing run

Yes, it's what I did. directly connecting the 3.3v pin of my esp32 to vcc and then ground. but I still get that blink at first, and then it's gone instantly.
Look at the image. I wrote 5V / GND (not 3.3V)
update: even if 5v it's not working. so i switched to my as608 scanner and worked just fine. maybe the r307 is faulty. i got my refund anyways
