Radio scanning digital encoder

Hello all I hope your all well.

I’ve come today looking for some help I have a tecsun pl-360 radio that uses a 3 pin digital encoder to scan up and down the frequencies and I’m trying to use a nano and a potentiometer to replace the digital encoder to make the radio auto scan the frequencies and also control the speed that it scans at I’m hoping one of you can help me with the code as I don’t feel like I’m getting anywhere with it at all after days of trying I’m not very good with coding and any help would be greatly appreciated I’m willing to put the work in to get there but I need as much advice as I can get to help me in the right direction thank you all very much I look forward to your replies

You know so much more about the radio and the 3 pin encoder than we do, so help us by describing what the encoder tells the radio, a circuit diagram of the encoder and radio connections is really necessary. You have that information and need to share it.

Hi, @the_loner
Your Tecsun encoder will probably be a quadrature encoder, one pin being common and the other two being the two output channel switches.

Measure the voltage between the common and one of the other pins and determine what voltage is present when the the switch is open, this will determine your system voltage.

Does the encoder have a part number on it?

You are asking an Arduino to emulate a quad encoder.

Then Google;

arduino emulate quadrature encoder

I believe this is the RF and control part of the schematic.

Tom.. :grinning: :+1: :coffee: :australia:

This is the encoder no information about it on there site at all I’m sorry to say

Thank you I’ll do that now and see what I can find
