Rainbowduino + selfmade rgb led matrix

hey,

I want to build a LED matrix on my own to get a larger LED/Pixel distance, but I don't understand the circuit diagrams completely.

Is it right that I don't need to add any additional resistors?
Soldering the SMD LEDs according the circuit layout is enough?

In the manual of Rainbowduino and of my working standard matrix it seems to be so...

Thank you!
Dennis

ONLY - if the circuit contains some other form of current limiting like a constant current driver.

thanks mike,

cool, so i don't need addional ones, the rainbowduino man says there is a "Constant Current LED driver – MBI5168" on it.

Hey dddp,
exactly this will be my next project (starting 22th of august, because of exams) lets stay in touch and get this rainbowduino flying
I would like to have someting like this 64 RGB-LED color wave table (Arduino, 12x TLC5940) - YouTube but without having to buy these expensive TLC5940. I want to make it as flat as possible (approx. 3cm) and not as a horizontal coffee table but as a wall decoration.
Do you plan to document your work in a blog or something? That would be very nice

Greetings and have fun!
Jan
