Range finder?

Hello Chaps,

I think(!) I am looking for a cheap range finder for my first real arduino project.

I’m not after amazing accuracy, a 5mm accuracy would be fantastic, but I would like the ability to focus on quite a small object (again, maybe something around 10mm square). Do you think something like the Sharp GP2D12 would do the trick? If not, can you suggest something that might?

if it makes any difference to your recommendations, it’s relative distances I’m interested in rather than absolute ones. I’m looking at distances between 150 and 300mm.

I’d be super grateful if you can help at all,

Many Thanks,

Dan

The Infrared Proximity Sensor Short Range - Sharp GP2D120XJ00F has the shortest range.
Hope that helps

Oh yea, just click on each of the sensors to find out their individual ranges.
