RC Project advice

I am requesting some advice from a few of the members here, I have an RC project that has 3 motors to control independently, with forward and reverse.... I know that Arduino could do this for me, and that is my plan, however, I have a question about the RC part... size and weight are an extreme issue, these need to be as small and light as possible...

What wireless board should i use, and what Arduino board should I use?

Thanks alot!

ArduPilot - Arduino Compatible UAV Controller w/ ATMega328 - GPS-08785 - SparkFun Electronics That's one I'm waiting for. It has a second controller to act as a watchdog and allow your transmitter to override if needed.

Otherwise I've been using a Roboduino from http://www.curiousinventor.com/kits/roboduino

So, this fly-by-wire, do i need a wire, or still need to find my own wireless communication device, i dont really need any type of stabilization, or sensors, will the board function without them? do i still need an arduino on the aircraft?

i assume i will still need an arduino in the controller for sure, how do i communicate with that board?

sorry for all of the questions...

thanks so much!
