Did you try at least searching the forums to see if this issue had been discussed before?

It's not as easy as just hooking up a microphone. You need to rectify and amplify the signal.

I have had trouble with this one, but others have used it in audio projects. So I think I have a defective unit. This breakout board includes the microphone and a small amplifier.
