Read data from website from ESP client

Dear Aii

I configured my ESP 8266 12E as a client to connect my hotspot router home page 192.168.0.1

I connected my ESP to serial monitor

Serial monitor is showing connected and IP also released

But it does not receive any data from page

Following are the ESP client codes

#include <ESP8266WiFi.h>

/*use this macro to get into debug mode; comment it if the ESP module is connected to the arduino*/
#define DEBUG_MODE 1

const char* ssid = "SSID";
const char* password = "pasword";

const int websitePort = 80;
const char* host = "192.168.0.1";

void setup() {
  Serial.begin(9600);
  delay(10);

  // Connect to WiFi network
  Serial.println();
  Serial.println();
  Serial.print("Connecting to ");
  Serial.println(ssid);
  // Use WiFiClient class to create TCP connections
  WiFiClient client;

  delay(300);

  WiFi.begin(ssid, password);
  while (WiFi.status() != WL_CONNECTED) {
    delay(500);
    Serial.print(".");
  }

  delay(300);
  Serial.println("");
  Serial.println("WiFi connected");

  // Print the IP address
    delay(1000);
  Serial.println("");
  Serial.println("WiFi connected");
  Serial.println("IP address: ");
  Serial.println(WiFi.localIP());
}

void loop() {
  delay(500);
  Serial.print("connecting to ");
  Serial.println(host);

  // Use WiFiClient class to create TCP connections
  WiFiClient client;
  if (!client.connect(host, websitePort)) {
    Serial.println("connection failed");
    return;
  }

  while (!client.available()) {
    delay(1);
  }

  // Read the first line of the request
  String request = client.readStringUntil('\r');

  Serial.print("Received: ");
  Serial.println(request);

  client.flush();
  String spoons;
}

Please advice
Thanks in advance

You need to issue an http get (or post). Have a look at an example e.g. https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-huzzah-esp8266-breakout/using-arduino-ide#connecting-via-wifi

  String spoons;

What is this for?

In setup(), why do you define an instance of WiFiClient that you never use?
