I have a manual indicator tool with a manual led, I want to modify it to display on an i2c lcd but how can I read the status of the led whether off or on so that I can interpret it and then display it on the lcd, do you have a scheme to read the data (+) from the led to find out if the led is on or off?
Can you connect a wire to one side and detect when there's voltage there with a digital pin? Do you have access to connect a wire? Is the device 5V or would you need to divide the voltage? Does the LED switch hot or ground?

Start by showing the schematic (photo of hand-drawn is fine) that involves the LED.
- Draw out the LED circuitry so we can see what you have.
- An image of the actual LED wiring will also help.
