Read Suzuki Vitara Tacho meter

Hi everyone,

I wanted to DIY a tachometer using arduino for my Suzuki Vitara JLX 1997.

The current wiring diagram in my car is "Ignitor -> noise supressor signal -> tachometer/ecu"

Is there a way to read the signal without interfering the existing circuit in the car?

Hi, @chewyuinyee
Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the car wiring diagram.

Have you Googled;

Hi Tom,

I did come across this diagram.

from:

But I not sure how it will impact the ECU or Tacho display in the existing system in my car.

It is possible to just "TACH_SIGNAL" directly to the brown wire ?

Possibly not as that brown wire has a series capacitor filter circuit in series.

The brown circuit might be loaded down by the input of the circuit you have in post #3.

It is meant to connect directly to the coil, but i am not mistaken, it should be on the GND side, where the induction of the coil triggers the opto-coupler.
