I was wandering if it is possible to connect x box pedals and wheel to arduino and to control DC motors from it ?

Regarding the wheel - is it possible to control the direction of the motor? meaning that if the wheel is turning the the left the motor will spin in one direction and if the right the motor will spin the other direction?
