Reading SmartMeter using Xbee and Arduino

Hi,

I am interested in building a device that will read the Zigbee signal transmitted by my PG&E SmartMeter. Has anyone attempted this or built something that would work? I basically want to make something like the Rainforest EMU-2 that is more customizable.
