Really weird issue with uploading code . Help pls

Hi All,

I've been using the Arduino IDE for a few years now so I'd like to say I'm fairly familiar with it now. But I have just got this strange issue with uploading code to my Arduinos today: it's just not working. (I get several different error messages like access denied on com* , Problem uploading to board. ) I've uninstalled and reinstalled my copy of Arduino ide and tried several different Arduinos with no success. I finally tried to upload my code on another user account and that worked just fine. Does anyone know what may be causing this?

Thanks for your time and comments :),
Sam

TL;DR: Uploading code to Arduino not working on my account but working on other accounts even after uninstalling Arduino ide. Please help thanks.

The Arduino IDE has accounts?

No sorry, I don't mean that I mean like different User accounts on my PC.

if the other accounts on your computer work then it may be that the non working account has become corrupted.

Depending on the OS it is possible to either fix or make a new account and transfer the settings of the old account. You would have to google that to find the most current method as it is a long time since I did that kind of work.

Another issue may be that one account has more security than the others in terms of privileges or antivirus or similar.

Please dont just SWAP to another account without logging out properly as on rare occasions another account may hold a COM port for itself and also cause the same problem.
