I bought two transmitter modules with the nRF2402 IC.
It seems that I should have bought the nRF2401 transceiver module instead since it can transmit and receive.

What is so bad about being able to transmit and receive?
But you are probably right, you bought some outdated stuff.
This product is not recommended for new designs. Nordic recommends the nRF24L01+ or for a System-on-Chip solution either the Nordic nRF24LE1 or nRF24LU1+.

I didn't say it was bad.
It can do both whereas the module I bought can only transmit. Waste of my money.
I am curious though.
What was the receiver-only companion to the nRF2402?
In the Nordic table I can not find a receive only companion.
Maybe the 2402 was constructed for send only applications, pointer, mice, keyfobs, ...
