Recommendations for "distance" Sound Sensor

Hi All,

I'm trying to make something for a parade that will use clapping as input.

I'm looking for a sound sensor that will effectively pick up audio from the sidewalk/other side of the street (few meters).

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

SparkFun Electret Microphone Breakout - BOB-12758 - SparkFun Electronics or similar.

Please bother to give more detail about what you hope to achieve.
Will a single clap activate something? Do you need it to ignore any other loud noise? Or are you making some kind of a visual sound meter where clapping isn't actually the only sound you care about? Will this parade have a band?

What you say you want, can't be done. So either accept that answer, or clarify what your goal is.

At the end of the day it will probably function as a decibel meter. The act of clapping isn’t so important as the act of making noise in general. The only noise it might need to ignore would be the sound of the car engine.
