Recommendations on 9-axis IMUs

Dear Fellas,

I used MPU9250 in my previous project as 9-axis IMU back in 2018, even though at that time MPU9250 was already discontinued...
I did a literature review in 2019, and at that time I had the options of BMX160 from Bosch (seems also discontinued now...), ICM-20948 etc...

So I'm wondering what are the recommendations for 9-axis IMU at 2022.

Thanks!

The market is competitive, and the modern 9DOF offerings all have similar performance. If you have specific requirements, do a side by side comparison of the data sheets.

Modules from a reputable hobby suppliers like Adafruit, Pololu or Sparkfun, offer simple connector options and 5V to 3.3V logic level conversion if needed.

I recommend to avoid Bosch sensors with built in AHRS firmware. The firmware is not state of the art.

Dear Jremington,

thanks for your reply!
I don't have any specific requirement. My main requirement is low-power, widespread use (so if I run into any problem, I can find online solutions)...
Do you have any detailed suggestions?
Thanks!

I have used the ST LSM9DS1 in a couple of commercial projects
not with Arduino micrios but implemented custom PCBs using Microchip micros

Hi Horace, it seems LSM9DS1 is also discontinued, are you still able to get them?
thanks.

been having supply problems with many components
having to look around to see what is available in required quantity to do redesigns of PCBs
I think latest proposal is to use the MEMSIC_MC3419 3-axis accelerometer (Digi-Key have over 80K in stock)
for prototypeing there is a Mikroe 18 click MC3419 board - RS in the UK have a stock
