rectifier diode necessary?

Hi,

I created something like this: LINK

I use it with a arduino mini pro and two pwm pins and a mosfet ( irf540 ) to drive lestrips.

My question, are those rectifier diode necessary when using ledstrips?

second question, if yes, those ledstrip use more than 5A, does the diode (SB560) need to be higher than the strips pull? (strips pulls 12v and more than 5Amp)

Please advice what is wise to do ...

Those diodes are only needed for inductive loads. LED strips are NOT inductive so you can leave them out.

Thanks KenF , now you know one more thing about me.

Thx ;)

This is a very culture dependent thing but in the UK public school system ( and that means that you have to pay a very lot of money to go there not the U.S. meaning ) your chosen name of "creamers" would be your slang nick name at school because you were mad. It is after the product "cream crackers" which have nothing to do with cream at all.

The style is to add "ers" to any name. Much used in the cricket community. So Henry Blofeld a cricket commentator is known as "Blowers". Incidentally, Ian Fleming who created Blofeld as the bond villain got the name from Henrie's dad.

I'll get me coat.
