Relay Board Question

I have 2x 8ch Solid State Relays running on a vu meter for my Christmas lights. The question is will it cause my electric meter to jump like if i went into the kitchen and flicked the switch for 4 hours strait?

or because the power current is only transfered between the relay pin it wont make the meter jump?

Flicking a light switch will not make your electric meter jump. If it is really doing that, you had better call an electrician to fix it as soon as possible.

You electric meter will count the Watt-Hours... If on average half the lights are on at any moment, you'll consume about the same amount of energy as leaving half the lights on all of the time. There is a slight turn-on surge, and the relays will consume some power, but overall it will consume less energy than leaving the Christmas lights on full-time.

The relays consume some power, probably less than 1W, when energized and of course the lights consume power too.

i was just always taught to not flick the light switch on and off because it would make the meter jump i guess that's a wise tale in most cases(except faulty wiring).
