Hi All,
I am starting a new project where I want to have an Arduino board controlling the power availability on 3 sockets of a multi socket plug extension (sorry I dunno how this is called in English, wikipedia tells me it is a power strip? Power strip - Wikipedia)
So what I would like to do is have a relay on each of the strip socket to control them. I got the relay switching thanks to some tutorials but I am not comfortable with 220V so I would like to have some advice on how to proceed.
(1) all the devices I plan to plug there are grounded so I was wondering if wiring the relay on one side or the other of the child socket would make any difference?
(2) what do you think is the most idiot proof way of wiring the relays?
- opening up the strip and getting two wires out for each socket I want to control?
- try to fit the relays inside the strip?
- not opening the strip and add an extra adapter controlled by a relay on each socket?
I am just talking design here, I DO NOT plan to do this by myself, I want to design the solution, get the parts and ask an professional to wire it up for me.
Thanks!
Julien
